Medical Mission Trip - Philippines 2020

Ever since I was young and thought about a future career in medicine, my biggest goal was to be able to help those less fortunate by completing medical mission trips over the course of my life. This February of 2020, I will begin to tackle this goal and participate in my first medical mission trip to the Philippines! I am lucky to travel with an outstanding group of medical professionals in partnership with Medical Missions for Children, Inc. to complete a week long trip focused on Cleft lip and palate surgeries for pediatric patients. 


A little about Medical Missions for Children (MMFC)... MMFC has been changing the lives of children and their families all over the world for over 25 years. This organization now conducts close to 20 missions a year and has operated on over 27,000 children. They are dedicated to "providing life-changing surgeries to children around the world born with tragic facial deformities such as cleft lips and palates, microtia (absence of the outer ear) and head and neck tumors." I am so excited to partner with them and our team to provide these surgeries to pediatric patients during our trip. For further information on MMFC, click here  !


* 170,000 children are born each year with cleft lip/cleft palate deformities
* 1 million children and adults are awaiting cleft surgery throughout the world
* 27,000 cleft surgeries are performed by MMFC each year


Now... how can you help?! My trip is completely funded. Therefore, your donation will be going directly towards patient care --> $300 buys a smile (cost of one cleft surgery)! $1000 provides the funds to run an operating room for one day! Any donation towards the GoFundMe will go towards these costs, along with medical supplies for the trip.
