Saylor's ski season 17/18

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Saylor O'Brien and I am a 15 year old young lady with Spina Bifida.  I have been adaptive skiing since I was 4 years old. When I was 10 I knew I wanted to become a professional adaptive athlete and race in the paralympics. Since then I have been working hard (on and off the hill) and my family and friends have too, all in effort to make this dream a reality.

Last season I learned and accomplished a lot in national and international competition and travel, including several bronze medals and my very first super G race! I was able to go to Pyeongchang to help South Korea develop their own adaptive program during the Paralympic games, it was a huge honor and put some major fuel on my fire to make it to Beijing in 2022. An article about me, written by Lisa Niver, was published in the Saturday Evening Post in February, that inspired many and here at home I won Female Adaptive Athlete of the year at Utah’s state of the sport awards! Most of my training was spent with the National Ability Center Alpine team at Park City Mountain Resort. I also spoke a few times at various events and love to give back in this way, so if you are interested, please contact me! It was a successful season that included a lot of growth and progress! Thank you for your love and support in all the ways you offered it!

This season I am hungry to make my way up higher on the podium and continue to work towards my future Paralympic goals! I know how much work this will take to make happen, not just from me, but especially from me!

A Lot of expenses go into this dream, year around; nutrition, on hill training, off hill training, licensing, coaching, equipment, and travel. Outside of the financial support I receive from my family and from the National Ability Center, this year I will need a minimum of $5000 to keep progressing the toward the goal. While this is the minimum, it is also a lot, so if you can help, WE would greatly appreciate it. In the coming 3 seasons leading up to 2022 many more expenses will hit, so continued support relieves major stress and allows me and my family to focus on training. WE cherish every $1!
