Help Lay My Heart Horse, Clue, to Rest

The day I met Clue was one of the best—and worst—days of my life.

On September 8th, 2020, I went to try him as a lease horse and instantly fell in love. Right after our ride, I got the worst call imaginable—I lost my dad. In that moment, I knew Clue was meant to be mine. He became my comfort, my peace, and my reason to smile again. Through every tear, every hard day, and all my grief, Clue was there.

I leased him until December 25th, 2024, when my mom gave me the greatest gift I could ever ask for—a horse of my very own. Every little girl dreams of getting a horse for Christmas, and Clue made that dream come true.

But sadly, our time together is coming to an end. Clue has always struggled with paper-thin soles, and despite every effort with our farrier and vet, his condition has worsened. He’s foundering, and even though he’s fighting so hard, he’s tired. At 19 years old, he deserves peace. I want to let him go while there’s still light in his eyes—before the pain takes that from him.
