Saxon needs your help

Hi, some of you got bits and pieces over the last couple of days. The sad news is Saxon is very sick. After feeling unwell a couple of weeks ago and then being rushed off to hospital on Tuesday morning, they did an x-ray and then ultra sound and various blood tests and a biopsy of the lymph nods in his abdomen. The sad news the results of all of these tests has come back that Saxon has lymphoma, which means he has cancer.

The onset of this awful disease was sudden, unexpected and swift. In the span of a couple of weeks Saxon went from being a beautiful, happy, talkative, sweet and playful boy to a dog that is in pain and literally fighting for his life. It's heartbreaking. The other sad news is that is cancer is quite extensive and has progressed to parts of his body like his kidneys. Saxon can not be cured of this cancer all we can do is provide the best care and medicines, they have already started his chemotherapy.

As Saxons best mate and along with Willow his other best mate we are committed to making him as comfortable as possible and giving him the best chance to move into remission which if everything is on our side we may have him around for a year maybe more. And I’d love it if you would join us and help him beat this terrible disease.

The cost of Saxon’s cancer treatments is expected to run into the thousands. The estimate the vet provided for his chemotherapy regimen could be well over $10,000 for the full course, which will run over 20 weeks. The bill from his initial treatments was $3,400.

He will need a 20 week regimen of chemotherapy treatment to have a chance at beating this. The regimen calls for 4 consecutive weeks of once weekly chemo, followed by a week off, then 4 more weeks and a week off, then the final weeks of treatment followed by more testing to verify we've made it to remission. The vet will do blood tests before each new round so they can track the white blood cell count which will tell the vet how the treatment is progressing. And there are plenty of drugs he has to take  to help shrink the mass, fight nausea and make him more comfortable and cope with the pain. This disease is ugly, but it is treatable and beatable. It's been done before successfully with other dogs and I believe Saxon can do it now.

We know not everyone will be able to contribute towards Saxon's lifesaving care. Your love, prayers and continued support are still greatly needed and appreciated. However we would be deeply appreciative if your are willing able to help us with a financial blessing to help with Saxon’s medical expenses.

Thank you so very much.
