We are raising money for our children RaSeph (Ra)14 & Sia Li Wright (12) who are Youth filmmakers to attend the largest youth film festival in the world, NFFTY -National Film Festival for Talented Youth in Seattle, WA from April 28 - May 2, 2016. They have earned their place among the best by creating an amazing film "In The Path of My Father" in partnership with Sitar Arts Center and award winning film company Meridian Hill Pictures in Washington, D.C.
This movie is actually Ra's third film project with MHP. He worked as a cameraman on the doc " Doing It For Me" and earned the honor of attending The White House Youth Film Summit in Fall 2013. Ra met both Mrs. Obama & had lunch with Whoopi Goldberg. Ra also has a popular YouTube channel - iAmra
Ra and Sia Li Wright are both Homeschooled students who have been making movies since they were 7 & 5 years young.
This semester Sia Li is actually teaching a "Filmmaking & Editing " class at Sankofa Homeschool collective. First day of classes students had to be turned away because she had reached her maximum capacity of 10 students! Another reason for the popularity of her class is because she has a serious following on her YouTube channel @ Sia Sunshine. Some of you might be familiar with her popular video "Wi-Fi Skit."
In The Path of My Father was recently shown at Bethesda Film Fest 3/18 - 3/19. It will also be shown at Annapolis Film Fest on 4/3/16!
In addition to working with Meridian Hill Pictures, this brother and sister have established their own film company #raandsiadodocs to capture and tell stories from their perspective. Part of this fundraising campaign is to ensure these AMAZING filmmakers have the tools they need to tell their stories. Even though we have a short period of time to raise funds, we can do it! When we talk about supporting young people that are doing positive work in their communities, here is your chance. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CONTRIBUTING YOUR TIME, SUPPORT & RESOURCES TO THEIR DREAMS!
