Saving the family pet!

I am a friend of the family and they need some help because there 5 year old family pet broke his Achilles and the family needs $4,000 to $5,000 to get the surgery.  The surgery cost $2,000 but the vet informed the family if you get the one side done the other side might go out as well.  And Bear is going to need follow up visit as well for about 6 months.  So I am trying to help the family out so they do not have to put Bear down.  Bear has been in the family every since he was 4 weeks old.  They have small children that are very attached to him and they do not want to put them through the pain of loosing their friend.   So whatever you can give can you please help this family out in their time of need.
