Strider has recently suffered a major setback in his recovery from a spontaneous pneumothorax. After surviving this once before, we truly believed the worst was behind us.
Yesterday morning, my bright, happy boy woke up struggling to breathe. X-rays confirmed that Strider is experiencing another spontaneous pneumothorax, a condition where air leaks from the lungs into the chest cavity resulting in difficulty breathing. This is a serious and time-sensitive medical emergency that requires immediate, intensive care. The costs for diagnostics, hospitalization, oxygen support, and potential surgical intervention are overwhelming, and unfortunately, we simply do not have the funds to cover this on our own.
We’ve since learned that for Strider to have a chance at long-term quality of life, he will need surgery to remove or repair part of his damaged lung. He is only 5 years old, and this surgery offers him the best chance to keep living the life he loves for many years to come.
Strider is more than just my dog. He comes to work with me every day and is my constant companion. He has also competed in multiple dog sports and performed all across Ontario, bringing joy to so many people along the way.
This sudden medical emergency and the cost of surgery and recovery are more than we can manage on our own. Any donation or share helps more than I can express.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser also means the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting saving Strider.
