Saving Silverlea Early Childhood Services

Silverlea Early Childhood Services is the only specialised Early Intervention service in Broken Hill (NSW, Australia) for children with a disability and/or developmental delay, caring for children from birth to eight years of age. Silverlea is a non-profit charity organisation now operating as a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider.
Prior to NDIS, Silverlea Early Childhood was block funded by the NSW Department of Family and Community Services, Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) at approximately $230,000 per year. Under the NDIS however, Silverlea Early Childhood has seen its funding drastically reduced. Income from NDIS plans is only $1,500 per month, equating to $18,000 per year - a shortfall of $212,000.
Due to this dramatic loss of revenue, Silverlea is unfortunately at risk of closure. This would deprive Broken Hill of a much-needed service, one of vital importance to children in need and the families who support them. Not only do the team support the individual needs of each child, they also offer support to families to help with their child's development in the home. Furthermore, they provide additional support to improve access and participation in preschool and the community, and link other services to families.
Silverlea changes lives. The early intervention provided is crucial and helps make the world a little easier, brighter, and kinder for children and families who desperately need it to be.
In response to the prospect of Silverlea's closure, the Broken Hill community have been nothing short of wonderful with donations, cake stalls, sausage sizzles, and fundraisers. While all of these contributions help the cause and help raise awareness, their efforts are sadly not sustainable for the long term.
As a result, Silverlea has decided to reach out to the users of GoFundMe in the hope that we will be able to raise much needed funds. While we have a large amount of money that we need to raise, and our goal may seem distant, we are determined to do nothing but the best and fight for an amazing service which has helped so many. Any donation, or sharing of our cause would be appreciated not only by our hard working staff, Board members, and the community; but most importantly, the children who NEED this service.
All funding raised will help the service remain open for business until December 2019, giving precious breathing space while we work on securing our long term viability.
