Saving our trail riding horses from forced sale

Hi friends and fellow horse lovers. Pete and I are nearly 80 years old. We have never done anything in our lives that did not involve horses. We trained professionally for nearly 60 years. As we slowed down, we started raising, training and selling a few good trail horses and taking out recreational trail riders. ‘Arbuckle Trail Rides’ was foaled over 20 years ago. We have met literally thousands of interesting, wonderful people from all over the world. We want nothing more than to continue taking out riders. That is impossible with Covid19. We are now doing something we have never done before in our lives – we are asking for help. We are old and fiercely independent, but we are desperately trying to save our horses from slaughter and, hopefully, continue the trail rides in the future. We are trying to hang on to our horses (mostly rescues), but cannot do it for much longer without help. As soon as our hay is exhausted, we are going to have to start selling horses. The hay shed is almost empty. We have little income during the winter, and now we have already lost all income that we usually get from spring break riders and the riders that come to view the beautiful April wildflowers on the trails. March and April are our busiest months and May is lost, too.
It breaks our hearts that we may have to sell our trail horses and the few mares we have left. What worries us even more is that they are older. They would probably only be bought by people who would lie to us and send them to slaughter. Many trail geldings have been with us for over 15 years. We managed to come back from a devastating EF4 tornado that wiped the entire place out in 2016, but we are not going to be able to survive this without help. Thank you for listening.
