Help Nico Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Just four weeks old and weighing 4 lbs, Nico came into my live on October 4, 2012.

Today: August 11, 2014- Life sought out my greatest vulnerability and suckerpunched me where it hurts the most.
Nico is diagnosed with Cancer, one month away from his 2nd birthday.

Just a few days ago, I took my boy to the Veterinarian for what I thought was just going to be a minor respiratory infection. We visited a specialist today where Nico was diagnosed with Lymphoma. If he doesn't start chemo he only has weeks to live.

It is very difficult for all who know him to see Nico in this condition. He does not have an appetite, his breaths are short, and he is very lethargic. His lungs are surrounded by fluid making it difficult for Nico to breathe. Yet he is still happy as ever when he isn't sleeping.

The Good News:
The Vet seems quite optimistic about his treatment as long as I can get him treatment soon.
Lymphoma is actually "moderately" treatable.
Treated via chemotherapy, it is sometimes only temporary, as it is hard to cure completely. However, the chemotherapy treatment will likely give him at least another two/three healthy years with us before it recurs again at which time I can be ready for round two. This would more than double his current life span.

So, this is what I'm doing. If this "cancer" thinks that I will just give up on Nico, and not give him the fighting chance he deserves, it couldn't be more wrong. Those who have met Nico already know that the value of his presence cannot be matched by anything. Those who have met Nico know he deserves every fighting chance that is available. Nico would NEVER give up on me, nor anybody. Love like his deserves more than two years on this earth and I'm going to do everything in my power to give him more time to change people's lives like he has changed mine.

It is very tough for me to ask for support, but regrettably, I cannot afford his treatment on my own. I have already spent over $1,000 in diagnostic bills alone. The Chemotherapy is estimated to be around $4000. Any assistance will be more than appreciated, every dollar helps and will go a long way.
Please share this with all of your friends, family, and coworkers. With your help, WE can do this!

All he needs from us is the financial support. He is tough, he is 100% capable of beating this.

In addition, this has incentivized me to apply to vet school and persue a career researching oncology. I'll be fighting Canine Cancer the rest of my life in Nico's memory. Canine Cancer messed with the wrong dog.

Nico is part of me. I raised him, but he's taught me way more than I ever taught him. I will never be able to thank you guys enough for your support.

--After calling Vista Print and expressing my cause, they gave me an extremely generous deal on fridge picture magnets of Nico to give thanks to the people who donate $20 or more. It's not much, but I can't use money on anything but vet bills.

For a video of nico as a puppy, and nico as of right now, please visit the link below where I threw together a quick video. He's just the same loving goofball as he ever was, except he moves much slower and is tired all the time. Ill post updates as they come!
