Saving Lucy Day

Lucy Day Simpson is a 14 month old Golden Retriever puppy.  On Sunday, July 30th Lucy was going to go for a walk to get ice cream for her sister's birthday. Lucy was able to slide out of her collar and ran towards Ford St to go to the river. There was a lot of traffic as there is a festival in town so all of the cars were moving slowly or stopped... except for one truck who attempted to illegally pass the stopped vehicles. Lucy was tragically struck by the undercarriage of the truck. Unfortunately, the driver fled the scene. X-rays show that Lucy has suffered a skull fracture and significant brain swelling. At this time we are awaiting results of a CT scan to see if there is further damage- if there is, the vet highly recomends brain surgery to remove the chipped bone fragments from her brain cavity.
