Sadly our fur baby Keha was struck by a car Wednesday morning and is in critical condition at Maui central veterinary clinic. He suffered a very bad blow to the head, bruised lung and hernia. He is on medication to deal with the pain, but our biggest obstacle to overcome will be to do with the head trauma.
This will take time to heal. He’s making progress each day but we have a long road ahead of us...
As we all know vet bills can be extremely expensive, especially since he needs 24hr care. ... Our 1hr emergency visit at Makawao Vet was $500, then MCVC gave us a total bill of $1500 for the first 2 days...but after our resent visits to see him, it looks like he’ll need to stay longer than just 2 days...most likely 5-7 days to get him to a place where he can come home with us to heal.
He’s improving but slowly. It’s still uncertain at this point.
If Keha makes it through all of this, he’ll also need surgery to repair a hernia, continued, care, medications, vet visits & rehab.
This is why we are crowd-funding, for his care now & extended care in the months to come.
We struggle with asking for help like this because it is not in our nature....
But we SO appreciate anything you can do or give to help us make it through this difficult time.
