Dexter ongoing medical expenses

We are continuing to keep both of Dexter GoFundMe accounts open for ongoing support.

Backround:

Dexter was diagnosed in May of 2023 with Cushing's disease - a health condition in dogs that occurs when the adrenal glands overproduce cortisol in their body. Excess cortisol can put a dog at risk of several serious conditions and illnesses, from kidney damage to diabetes, and can be life-threatening.

***Dexter has been on medication for this and has been responding well as he has been retested recently***

Aug 2023 unexpectedly Dexter was very ill and had to be rushed to the VET ER. After many testing & scans Dexter was diagnosed to have 2 massive tumors on his liver that almost claimed his life if he did not get the emergency surgery that he required to remove the tumors. The 2 massive tumors were bleeding into his stomach and without the surgery Dexter would have not survived longer than the expected week the doctors gave him due to the bleeding.

ONLY with everyone's support were we able to get Dexter’s emergency surgery covered on and have the surgery on Sep 20, 2023.

After Dexter surgery we noticed he was having a hard time breath, once again many tests and scans later Dexter was now diagnosed with a heart murmur & Tracheal collapse which is  caused when the cartilage rings weaken — flattening them and narrowing the airway.

This poor baby has been through so much in the last couple of months, but he has been showing so many signs of improvements because he is responding great to the medications and new diet he is on.

Just to ensure that Dexter is heathy and feeling well between the medication and diet, I spend about $300 - $350 monthly, and I am not complaining because I am willing to do all I can for Dexter. What truly makes it so hard is when he isn’t feeling well, and we have to do scans and bloodwork randomly out of the blue and the costs add up so much on top of his monthly expenses.

Which is why we will continue to keep both of these GoFundMe accounts open, because without your support I am truly not able to cover these other medical expenses that come up when he isn’t feeling well.
