Save Zena, Miracle Cat Hit By Car!

It's a true miracle Zena has survived this long, but she needs our help to live. Zena' story has been a tough one, hit by a car and left with a broken leg (bone protruding) and an internal tear so bad that all of her organs that can move have been pushed up into her chest cavity. Somehow, she managed to survive for weeks or more with these injuries, but she can't live this way. She needs two major surgeries and intensive hospitalization in order to survive. Zena has been through so much and deserves a wonderful life free of the extreme pain she's been enduring for much too long.
Zena was being fed behind a home in Belleville, NJ for several years. About a month ago, the feeder noticed her back leg was injured - after looking closer, she saw the bone protuding out! She reached out to one of our volunteers who had been providing her with shelter and food over the years. A wonderful trapper attemped to trap her, but unfortunately, she wouldn't go near the trap and didn't come to eat every day. We were unable to help poor Zena. FINALLY after this frigid weekend, the feeder was able to coax her inside; where she was able to warm up and be inside a home for the first time. It was there where we got the biggest and best surprise - she's FRIENDLY! Not feral at all. She's completely handleable and must have been a family pet at some point in her life. Wow!
The next step was to bring her to the Emergency Hospital to take care of her severely injured leg. Much to everyone's surprise (this time a very heartbreaking surprise), it was discovered that her stomach is herniated into her chest - meaning any internal organs that can move are now in her chest cavity. She was likely hit by a car, resulting in both the broken tibia and herniated stomach.
Our volunteer and her husband wanted to give this girl a chance, especially since she's been suffering and surviving this way for many weeks - such a fighter! She will now require two major immediate surgeries and 24 hour hospital stay that will total almost $8,000. Her leg needs to be amputated and she needs major surgery to put her organs back in place.
