Saving A Veteran Phase 3

Donation protected
The day in March 2016 when Don was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic prostate cancer is etched in my memory.

With a prostate biopsy and following cancer diagnosis our lives changed forever. Numerous doctors told Don he was going to die and there’s nothing that could be done. They told us the average life expectancy with extensive chemotherapy and radiation was 3-17 months and that he should go home and pray.

"Why be saddled with this thing called life expectancy? Of what relevance to an individual is such a statistic? Am I to concern myself with an allotment of days I never had and was never promised? Must I check off each day of my life as if I am subtracting from this imaginary hoard? No, on the contrary, I will add each day of my life to my treasure of days lived. And with each day, my treasure will grow, not diminish.” ~Robert Brault

But when Don looked at Seth and Donna, He knew he had to fight, to never give up. We don’t accept there’s nothing that can be done so we remain positive and hopeful, exploring options and enjoying every moment he has.

There’s nothing more important to Don than family, so time with them is his number one priority.

To read more on Don’s journey see below, BUT you can help him now. I am raising funds for phase 3 to save his life... with a range of treatments including but not limited to ground-breaking dendritic vaccines, ozone therapy and hyperthermia treatments at Oasis of Hope.

After prostate biopsy surgery and being diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic prostate cancer in March 2015, Don quickly went about understanding treatment options. We researched options around the world and have consulted leading doctors and medical experts in the field and with other cancer survivors.

After Don’s biopsy

As part of the prevailing medical establishment, doctors provide little hope and no real solutions... with any cancer they have three options (as they see it) surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. From their own assessment, none provide solutions for Don and essentially would only be a palliative treatment.  He was sent home “to pray.”

Yet somehow, in the face of a dismal prognosis, he remains up-beat and hopeful.

Don’s journey

Don has taken on what may well be the biggest challenge he will ever face. He has chosen to challenge and change himself. He can genuinely say that he is a very different person than he was just a short time ago. It hasn’t been without pain, heartache and loss but it's also been a time of significant personal growth, awareness and a time of amazing discoveries.

As you might imagine, Don faced some pretty dark days, but he has also found a whole new fascinating way of looking at life. He’s done a lot of research, (would you expect anything else?) and a lot of reading! He is working to heal himself (naturally) following the research, principles and factors that can lead to radical remission.

Don’s journey since diagnosis has seen many life-altering changes, including dietary changes (organic/veg) with large amounts of juicing/smoothies as well as emotional healing and spiritual exploration. Key other areas have included targeted supplements, recognizing the significant link between mind and body, getting good support and maintaining exercise, including walking for other charities.

In terms of Don’s natural treatment, he is following numerous natural-based methodologies based in the immunological/metabolic side of things and all of his work has been supported by expert health advisors.  He also uses some traditional medicine to kill the cancer stem cells.

There's a wide range of things that bring joy in Don’s life, none more so than spending time with Seth, our son.  Don lives to see Seth graduate and he is confident that he will heal so one day he can spend time with his grandchildren.  He is also the glue that holds his family together.

What will the money be spent on?

As you can imagine, our family has already spent a great deal on the treatments over the past 6 months. This includes consultations with his doctors, supplements and the dendritic vaccines.  Almost nothing is covered by insurance, and we still owe a little over $1800.00 on the last treatment.

By asking many to give a little, we hope to  let Don continue to focus on healing and to gain access to treatments that we believe may hold the key to curing this cancer.

The Clinic treatments are not cheap, however, they are just slightly more than our insurance deductibles.  We have been able to get some tests and treatments at significantly lower costs, in one case, saving over $30,000.00.

Initial calculations estimate that the costs for the next phase of this treatment are in the order of $14,500.00, as long as there are no setbacks where additional IV treatment would be required.

Now, you can join Don in this journey of healing by supporting Don’s campaign to fund potentially life-saving treatments.

If you look, as I do, into the eyes of Seth and Donna, you’ll see why I can’t give up. Please join Don’s journey.

Thank from the bottom of our hearts

+ What diet is Don on?

Don is not any specific, branded diet but could be described as a vegan that eats fish and eggs. So Don is at least 85-95% vegan, and has aimed to significantly boost raw, unprocessed, mainly organic fruit and vegetables. Increased intake of organic cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, garlic, onions. Lots of fresh juice (lemons, carrots, beetroot, celery, ginger...), filtered water, nuts, seeds, legumes, dandelion and green teas. Don has also boosted his diet with a range of important organic superfoods, including chia seeds, quinoa, flaxseeds and a wide range of other nutrient-rich herbs and spices.

* Keep in mind all of this has been guided by a variety of specialist advisors (including clinical nutritionist, naturopath doctor(s), wellbeing advisor(s) and has included regular blood tests and urine analysis).
