Hi Everyone,
This is Einstein (a.k.a. "kitty")... he is in desperate need of surgery to remove a large cyst surrounding his kidney.
You can see his shaved belly from our draining trips. We have been having it drained every few weeks but it continues to encompass more and more fluid. It started out at about 60 mL of fluid and is now up to 83 mL of fluid being drained each time. Every time the cyst fills up it cause him to projectile vomit often because it pushes on all of his internal organs. He has to have this surgery or we will have to put him to sleep. Everytime we remove the fluid he is as happy as can be and runs and plays and has no problems for a few days until it starts to fill up again.
Here is an x-ray version of the cyst.... it is so big that it pushes his other organs into places they should not be.
The surgery has to be done at a specialized small animal university hospital a few hours from us. The cost of the surgery and the tests the hospital has to do prior to the surgery is estimated at $8500 even after our negotiations with the hospital to decrease the costs, which is a lot more than we have in our savings. We have the stay and surgery scheduled for the week of May 5th-9th, 2014. Please help us save Einstein!

1. His best friend is Lucy who he spends a lot of his time with.
2. He got his name because he saved a fish that jumped out of our fish tank. He played "Lassie" and ran to meow at me until I followed him so he could show me the fish flopping on the carpet.
3. His favorite things are catnip, treats, sunny spots, and laying on me all the time.
4. He is really good at training other cats how to behave properly. He showed Lucy all the good spots in the apartment and where the food, water, and the litter box was when we got her from the rescue shelter.
