Friends of Tricia

If you have come to this GoFundMe page, you are either artist and writer Tricia Bayman's friend in real life or on Facebook, or you have a friend who is this remarkable woman's friend in real life or on Facebook.  Either way, you know that Tricia's friendship is a gift, her life is extraordinary, and you know that she is a force for good in this world. She needs us right now.

It's time to save Tricia's life.

This campaign has two goals:  the first is to fund Tricia's immediate medical needs (glasses, hearing aids, and dental care), and the second is to help fund the supportive care and pain management she needs to go forward.

This is how Tricia describes her current circumstances:

"The last time I got new eyeglasses was about fifteen years ago and I can no longer see out of them. The problems with my eyes are unusual, and the glasses expensive.

"I have no hearing in my right ear and about forty percent hearing in my left.

"I don’t know what it will cost to fix my teeth. I think it will be a lot because I last saw a dentist about the same time I last got glasses.

"I have a disintegrating spine with fractures and foraminal stenosis. I am never free of disabling pain. I’ve had three strokes. I have a number of heart problems. "

This is how Tricia describes her fierce spirit to create:

"I have a burning desire to have my paintings in MOMA and The Met and to publish a few books before I die, not because I’m necessarily all that ambitious but because nothing gives me greater joy than talking to all of you and this is one way I do it. However, I can’t paint now. I can’t write. I am in so much pain I simply cannot."

This is how Tricia talks about what you mean to her:

"This is the way I see life:  everything I paint is a dialog.  It is as essential to me to be in my studio painting as it is to be talking to people.  I love when people tell me how they feel about my work and what they see in it.   This is how I talk to all of you."

It’s overwhelming, but Tricia is not overwhelmed. "Well, not always," she tells me.  We shouldn't be overwhelmed, either.   If each one of us does what we can, our collective love and our support will lift her up.

Let’s give Tricia her life back.
