SAVE THE SF CITY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

 HELP SAVE ‘THE CITY’

The San Francisco City Golf Championship is the longest-running amateur tournament in the world. Fondly nicknamed, "The City," it was played for most of its 100 year history at Harding Park. This great old golf course is where Ken Venturi battled Harvey Ward in 1956, a match that drew 5,000 fans and instantly became part of golf lore. But due to significantly elevated greens fees at Harding Park, The City has been forced in recent years to leave its landmark home and seek out lesser venues, damaging a tournament that was already struggling to retain players. Contestants who reach the match play portion of The City are forced to pay a new greens fee every time they advance; the more you win, the more you pay, with the champion now on the hook for more than $600. Many talented amateur golfers in Northern California  refuse to play, due to the high cost and inferior courses.

In an effort to save The City, we are fundraising to help reduce player costs and return the tournament to its rightful home, Harding Park. Every dollar of your donation will be used to offset the rising costs of hosting this event.
