Positive Change Needed In Armadale

Positive Creative Space needed to make a change’

‘Hello. I want you to put your visual, ‘I can see this happening’ hat on. Use that hat in a positive, creative and colourful way to see a grey, troubled and needy space becoming vibrant, happy and joined together to achieve art, knowledge and community.

Imagine a group of socially aware, practising artists who have three intertwined purposes; Art, Education and Community. Achievable, overarching goals that not only would benefit their individual arts practise but a whole town community in a massively positive, longterm way.

Myself and a group of creatives based in the Southern Hills of Perth, Western Australia have a project we are 150% committed to. Passionately.

We need you to understand why we ask for your assistance. Urgently.

Don’t stop reading now. Keep holding onto that hat. Envisage colour and joy and change. Not only in the brim but in the whole darn hat.

The dream

You can help create positive change in Armadale.

The Artist Retail Collective  Armadale (ARC) is a not for profit organisation based in Armadale, currently with over 20 practising artists who are local and understand the area very well. Know that the city they love has a reputation of having a large number of disengaged youth and minority groups who need to find purpose and to feel included.

Our artists are educators, facilitators and leaders in their own professional practice. Their enthusiasm and belief in this project has brought in others who share their vision; a filmmaker, craftspeople and a group interested in running sustainability, nutritional and healthy lifestyle workshops in the ARC Armadale space.

Over the last few months, ARC Armadale has operated in a small pop-up shop outside the main street mall. Our introduction phase to the community that we exist. In that short time the feedback has been positive, encouraging and with daily expressive comments from visitors that are tantamount to ‘WE NEED YOU HERE!!!’

We have found a home.

For the last two years, we have been planning and coordinating with the City of Armadale to turn an old, disused art gallery on the mall into a vibrant social space. Our vision is to transform this empty building into

1) a beautiful gallery to showcase the work of local artists and artisans,

2) a workshop/education space and

3) a small cafe and gathering space.

Imagine an arts centre where this can happen. A place of growth, and opportunity for artists and the public alike through engagement in art and socially minded projects.

Why and where we need assistance. From you. Now.

We have support from the City of Armadale and the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority, and we have found the perfect location, but now we need to build up a deposit so that we can sign the lease and move in.

ARC Armadale will be taking up residence in the 1800’s historic railway hotel, the old Rainiers’ gallery - an important landmark in Armadale.

We need to kickstart this campaign with $10,000 in order to move forward. Our overall goal is to raise $50 000  by December 2018,  Slowly climbing up starting with our first aim of $10,000.
The landlord wants the monies now or our dream and fantastically colourful, positive vision for our much loved city will turn fade.

Every bit counts. Please. Donate a little, a lot, whatever you can. Share on social media, Spread the word that we need support by way of funds, sponsorship and belief in why our community deserves this hub of creative positive energy.

As the ARC Armadale Co Ordinator, I can promise you that the need for this in our city is essential. The more support we get, the bigger the chance of success not just for us, but for the bigger community. Even now, daily I see positive changes, hear wonderful stories how ARC Armadale has woven its magic by introducing a new person to its possibilities.

Currently we have a beautiful symbolic path of art image transfers leading into our open door. A paper trail that has enticed shoppers to find us, Meet us, see our work and learn what we do. What we want to achieve for our home town.

Remember this… Creativity and involvement in the arts fosters inclusion, self-worth and purpose.

**As an extra incentive to donate, some of our fantastic, talented, kind artists have donated various items to help our cause. Please Check the update section and the see previous, as more will be added in the near future**

Help us give Armadale this. Please.’ Thank You. :)’
