Who we are:



Hi! We are Lea Chin and Antonius Malycha. 5 years ago, Lea left the States to study abroad in Fiji where she met Antonius and fell in love. Although we’ve had our ups and downs, fate has finally brought us back together as one to Fiji, the place we call home. We are currently settling in, fixing up Antonius’s house, and trying to start something of our own. But we need your help.  




The Back Story:

We are starting a new life in Fiji. Our vision for our life here is to live in the house Antonius’s beloved and unfortunately deceased father left behind for him, to renovate the bottom half of the house and rent it out so it pays for itself. We would also like to pay off the mortgage and start our own charter business. 

Before Antonius’s father died in a tragic accident, life was simple. We got to live our lives free of worry: working jobs we loved, traveling to different countries, and living like people in their 20s. The day Antonius received the call about his father dying, the world turned upside down. 

Antonius kept working as a sea man, earning a decent pay and attending to monthly mortgage payments, lawyer fees, and boat fees. However, the previous owner of the house took advantage of him always being away at sea—he broke into Antonius’s house, tried to illegally reclaim the house, and destroyed the home Antonius’s father left behind. Due to all of this, Antonius had no other choice but to come home and attend to these misfortunes. 

Together now, we are building a new life and future for the both of us here.  

What we want to accomplish?

Our aim is to create a sustainable life in Fiji, to rebuild a house into a home, to pay off a mortgage, and to start a charter business. To share our life here in Fiji with those that we love, to be able to host friends and family from around the world, to share the beauty of the Fiji Islands—these are our hopes and our dreams. For now, our main focus is to get the house renovated, repaired, and rented out. Once the house is taken care of, we can focus on paying off the mortgage and setting up our business. 


The House:

-       Double story house needs major renovations


-       New plumbing and electric systems

-       The downstairs flat needs a new kitchen, new bathrooms, new ceilings, new tiling




-       The upstairs flat needs a new kitchen



-       The roof needs to be rebuilt




-       The whole house needs to be painted inside and out





Why crowdfund?

We need the help of our friends and family. We are doing our best to save in every way possible, but because we are doing all of the renovations ourselves, we currently have no source of income. Without an income, we cannot get a loan from the bank. Without a business, we cannot make an income high enough to obtain a loan (minimum wage in Fiji is $2.68 FJD/ hour or $1.35 USD/hr). The sooner we get the house rented out, the sooner we can become self-sustaining, and the sooner we can start focusing on a business. 

On top of it all, we want to pay off the previous owner who we owe the mortgage to prevent him from illegally repossessing the property again. 

Your Impact

Any contribution you make will go straight into renovations so that we can get renters as soon as possible to pay off the previous owner. 

The $10,000 we hope to earn will pay for: 



·         $1000 for new electric system in the house

·         $1000 for new plumbing for both upstairs and down stairs

·         $3000 for complete renovation of the downstairs flat

·         $1500 for a new kitchen in the upstairs flat

·         $3000 for a new roof

·         $500 for enough paint for the interior and exterior of the house

Total: $10,000

If we reach our goal, we will have the house rented out by September 2018 and start focusing on our business.
