You can stay safe at home and order online via shopping apps and rarely need to go to a grocery store. However, the most-at-risk population in Milwaukee is being disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. Elderly people who rely on the East Side's only food pantry are now facing a dual crisis: crowded grocery stores and public busses are more dangerous for the high-risk population, and supplies at the food pantry are dwindling because panic buying in supermarkets has left the stores with little food to donate. The unprecedented combination of soaring demand and decreasing food reserves is stressing an already-taxed system that feeds the hungry in Milwaukee.  Every year we organize a community Passover seder in multiple locations.  This year we need to provide these people with Matzah and everything else they need for a family seder to keep up their spirits and show them that Am Yisrael Chai even during the current emergency. Additionally, we're currently facing unprecedented challenges ourselves. To curb the spread of the virus, we deliver food essentials to elderly food pantry clients in the 53211 area. Unfortunately, due to a lack of infrastructure that supports a mobile food pantry, our resources are being strained by daily car rentals to ensure the community has enough to eat. No one should go hungry – now or ever – and Milwaukee Synagogue's food pantry is responding every day. Help us prepare for the increased need during the COVID-19 pandemic by donating today.
