My name is Raubyn Branton and I am a member of the group "Save Lady Vols". Our group is campaigning to reinstate the Lady Vol name and logo to all women's sports at the University of Tennessee. Costs for printing materials, travel, newspaper ads, etc. are involved in our campaign. We know that people want to help in some way. Donating money so we can continue is how you can help reinstate the Lady Vol name and logo.
The University of Tennessee Athletic Dept. is removing the Lady Vol logo and name from all women's sports teams, excluding the basketball team, beginning July 1, 2015.
Thousands of fans; former and current UT athletes and many in Tennessee Legislature disagree with the logo removal decision. Here we are in 2015, fighting for what Pat Summitt and others created in 1976, for what Pat and others earned the right to keep: The Lady Vol name and logo.
The University of Tennessee is a collection of traditions - a family, so to speak. The Lady Vol name and logo is one of those traditions, much like the orange and white checkerboard; the mascot "Smokey"; the UT marching band's "UT" formation on the football field.
The Lady Vol logo and name are a renown symbol - one that empowers women athletes, which in turn, empowers the University of Tennessee; a logo that represents character, hard work and pride; one that current and former Vols and Lady Vols cherish.
The Save Lady Vols campaign is working to reinstate the logo and name.
We are asking for concerned people across America to help by donating for costs involved in the campaign. Every penny helps us win this battle. Please make Pat Summitt proud. It's time to work for Pat Summitt, dab gummitt.
