HELP BRING KILBURN BACK TO LIFE!

Donation protected
To tell the story of this old house would take all of us...which is actually the point of this fundraising campaign. I can only speak for myself, but as I grow older, I find my thoughts drifting back to that front porch, where I'm hulling strawberries from a tin colander, listening to my Grandma Betty move across the kitchen floor...the gong of the BBC in the background. It was impossible to realize it at the time, but as I grow older, I understand this memory and others to be the true halcyon days of my youth...and what I have come to hold most dear.

Time marches on, people come together and then fall apart, life goes so quickly and then not. It's this curious slipstream pace of life that often leaves us feeling like we may have somehow missed part of the beauty and overall message.  I, for one, plan on enjoying all the time I have left.  And I'd like to do much of it at Kilburn with my two daughters, Harper and Camilla.

The owner, Paul Kinney, has offered to sell me the KILBURN Home.  As an American mortgager, I need to put down 40% (or $21,200)  of the 53k USD asking price before I can secure the remainder of the loan. I have 16k but this number is dwindling as I have had to account for the many attorney and inspection fees. In addition, there is significant deterioration as well as plumbing and electrical damage that needs to be addressed. But, GREAT NEWS, the overall structure is still sound.

I want you to be part of this rebirth of KILBURN so I have included four reward levels based on your donation and can make good on bookings as early as summer/fall of 2018. As I said, there is a lot of repair work to be done but the place will more than inhabitable by then.

Every donation will be backed by a certified reward letter you may use to redeem beginning in 2018. With the exception of the $250 reward level, every reward can be renewed annually and can be transferred to another family member.

The restoration process can be divided into four phases:

Phase One: Deep cleaning, insulation, rewiring electrical, replumbing, framing out new kitchen and master upstairs bathroom.  (Farewell Blue Room)

Phase Two: Applying for historical preservation grants to maintain key structures including leaded glass, and other notable fixtures and appontments.

Phase Three: Redoing wood floors, painting all rooms, antique furniture restoration, and overall decor.

Phase Four: Opening of SUPPER restaurant in the family church down the road. This won't happen until much later but it's good to have something to look forward to.

Thank you to everyone who is interested in this project.
Please contact me directly at [email redacted] if you would like to invest on a seperate level, contribute sweat equity, or have KILBURN furniture, books, or vintage photos to offer as part of the decor.
