This is parts of the email I sent to financial aid this summer:
Over the summer, my father suffered some pretty serious medical issues that are too personal to share. This is a very tough situation for me as my sister died from similar health issues and my brother is spiraling down the same path. My mother and I are estranged; she is dealing with her own health issues and exists on social security disability. 

I have hit too many bumps in the road and I can't handle them all myself. I am reaching out for help because I know it is in my best interest.

I am a sophomore and an English major, here at the College of Charleston. I am in good standing with all of my grades and have yet to fail a class or even withdrawal from a course. I work with the REACH program as the first Student Assistant in Kelly housing. Also, I work as an Impact Scholar mentor (PAC).

I don't have the typical parents that can help their child when they need it due to their own situations. A little while back, my father agreed to help me make payments on my tuition. With that, I raised the payments because he said he could make them. Recently, he called and told me he is not able to give me the help I need.
I tried applying for last minute loans but got denied. I tried applying for a credit card and got denied. I wondered why I was getting denied for everything. I looked at my credit score and realized someone had tried filing a mortgage and car loan in my name. Also, there is a credit card under my name that I did not open. Needless to say, I am suffering from identity fraud, which has affected me paying for my schooling.

I have so many obstacles facing me and I do not know what to do. I am reaching out to you not to help pay for my schooling, but to help guide me on what path I should do to figure out how to make my payments. Your time is much appreciated!
