Melinda's Fight to Beat Breast Cancer

On May 26, 2013 My sister Melinda "Mindy" was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is single mom and works full time; Mindy has always been a hard worker. Unfortunately her employer does not offer sick leave, so this site has been set up to help her with the financial burden.
The idea of 6 degrees of separation is really hard to grasp, but I thought what better way to test the theory. So if you know Mindy, or you know one of her children or you know someone who has had cancer, please consider making a donation to help Mindy conquer this disease!

Melinda was born on July 30, 1964. She has four adult children Brett 30,Amie 26, Joey 21 and Ashton 18. In addition she has two grand children, Collin and Katie. So I have no doubt that she will beat Breast Cancer! Mindy has her entire family to support her, Father, Mother, Sisters, Brothers, Nieces and Nephews. Together we will fight!

My mom is hands down the strongest woman that I know. From being entirely self-sufficient, to independently raising all of her children, she's accomplished it all. Or so that's what I thought up until the end of May when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. As intimidating and frightening as the word cancer is, it's already quite evident that my mom is fully equipped to "kick cancer's ass." Did you hear that? My mom is told she has breast cancer, and one of her first retorts is, "I'm going to kick cancer's ass." I apologize for the brief cursing, but her statement is so bold, sincere, and motivating that I couldn't help but share it. Since I found out about my only mother having cancer she's been my rock. Wouldn't you think at a time like this it would be the other way around? Not with a woman like my mother. Again, she's the strongest woman I know.

Not only is my mother, my mother, but also my greatest inspiration. She is a hero in my eyes as well as my best friend and even at times, my partner in crime. Being a single parent my mother inspired me to be the most honest, independent, hardworking, loyal adult that I am today. She is always full of laughter and jokes even during the darkest moments of hearing the confirmation that she did indeed, have breast cancer. In that initial moment when my stomach sank and my heart ached for her she still kept in good spirits and just by looking into her eyes I knew everything was going to be okay. She is as tough as nails, the sweetest, most giving person you could ever meet with the kindest soul. I look forward to the many more memories we get to make together for many more years to come. I am so very blessed for all the love and support from everyone around during my mother's battle against breast cancer. I love you mom with all my heart and I hope I become at least half the woman that you are. XOXO

My mom has always been here for me, through thick and thin. I've never had to worry about being able to depend on my mother as a firm shoulder to lean on. She's consistently a great mother/grandmother, caring daughter, loyal sister, and just in general an awesome friend to have. Out of everyone I know my mom would be the last person to ask for help. She's a strong independent woman. On top of all the great traits my mom possesses, she's the best grandmother to my children that I could have ever asked for. I love you, mom!
