My beautiful and sassy grandmother has dementia and other health issues; she has lived in Maryland for 80 years where she has a husband, two children, four grandchildren, and a dog named Dixie.
Three months ago, my granny took a trip to Florida for a vacation to visit her two other children who haven't been to see her in over 25 years; she left with a carry-on suitcase and a return trip ticket.
My granny's whereabouts are unknown to her family other than these two children in Florida (they took my granny, who is legally blind and has Alzheimer's related dementia, to sign a Power of Attorney that is 19 pages long)! She has been in the hospital a number of times since being there and has not received the medical treatment she needs because of these animals. Her last known location was in an independent living facility, without a phone, for five weeks. She has been prohibited from speaking to, and now seeing, her entire family and friends that she has known all of her life.
I am currently in Florida, as I had scheduled a vacation to spend with my granny in her new isolated apartment; I planned to take her out to eat, get her nails done, go to a movie, and do some of the activities in the independent living facility! I was really looking forward to seeing her smile hear her laugh, and ruffle her fluffy white hair! However, those animals I referred to earlier have moved her so that I could not spend time with her. As my granny would say, "it's a damn shame!"
I have stayed in Florida, exhausting all resources of the state's programs, but now need to hire an attorney.
Please help me raise the money to fight this legal battle and get my granny back home to the family that loves and supports her.
