We need your help today. We have an immediate family emergency to save what is left of our family memories. We have had a series of catastrophic medical problems. There were swindlers who took advantage of us during these medical calamities. The result is that today we need your help immediately so we can save any and all of what is left of our family memories and keepsakes. Our immediate family, including Aunt Faye Miller (Ovarian Cancer); our Dad (Alzheimer's) and our Mom (tragic heart attack where minutes counted and the ambulance was inoperable and cost her her life.) These are part of the family of the Greatest Generation. We are committed to saving what is left of the stories, photos, inherited historical and personal heirlooms that date back to the 1800s. This also includes the family dogs (William, Katie Faye, and Spencer) that have been traumatized by the perfect storm and they need medical care for blindness, neurological pain and mobility and deafness in both ears.

Please help us to quickly recover these possessions before it is too late.

Our Aunt Faye was the youngest of the generation and the final repository of all family keepsakes. We must save our Auntie Faye possessions, and those possessions passed down to her for safekeeping. We have been doing this on our own for way too long, our doctor's say. We both have developed serious illnesses (heart, stomach, diabetes). We are told that we must ask for help for us to recover our family identity, create stability and focus on being as well as we can be. We are reaching out to you for emergency help to stop the pillaging of our keepsakes. Our situation has been very similar to having been in a hurricane, tornado or wild fire, our homes are gone and possessions are scattered to the wind due to the predators and scammers that attacked our family during its vulnerable hours of need.

We are reaching out to you for help as time is running out and having the necessary funds immediately gives us the ability to stop the predators and regain our family treasures.

Much gratitude and thanks,
Joyce & Richard Flannery ...The brother/sister team of survivors

The Short Story

This is all about heritage, heirlooms, history and continuity of family. We are the remaining brother and sister of a wonderful, close family. We are entrusted with the safe keeping of the treasures passed to us from our mother, aunt, grandparents and great grandparents. Our darling Aunt Faye lost her fight with ovarian cancer in 2009 and since that time we have been keeping her belongings in storage. Due to a series of catastrophic family illnesses and unique circumstances we have had a difficult time keeping up with the payments.

Truthfully we have lost well over half of our parents possessions, which is traumatic, as well as our own during these rough years so saving these remaining family treasures is essential to our very being.  It is part of who we are. We would appreciate any help you could provide.

Why this is so important to save

The bottom line is we have the final member of a historic, trailblazing family from the Midwest who came west during World War II and despite the odds and the times, she was one of those that broke the first glass ceiling. She was single and she was the historian of that generation. And she was the collector of the family recipes...including a famous Potato Salad that she and her sister Loretta developed together as well as a scrumptious chocolate cake with Hot Fudge Icing. These are important items to be passed to the generations and saved.

Her possessions include our grandfather's World War I silver sword he carried in the trenches as he fought between France and Germany. She has our grandmother's full set of china brought from South Dakota, and she has a historic school bell that her great grandmother rang in the Blizzard of 1888. A country school teacher who was trapped by the blizzard with her students and rang the bell so they could be found and one by one the children were tied to a rope and pulled to safety as was she. This is who are family is. This is the history that must be saved.

A little about Aunt Faye

Our aunt was a wonderful modern woman. Her first position was in Los Angeles for Pacific Bell (now AT&T) where she began as an operator and retired 38 years later as an integral part of the finance department. She retired to San Diego to be close to our mom (her sister), our dad and both of us.

She was a trailblazer as was our mom and dad. They all were born in the Midwest in South Dakota on the Minnesota/Iowa border.  She lived in San Diego over 25 years, first in Mission Hills at our family home and later, after our mom passed away, she moved downtown in 1987 when it was not a cool place to live. She, like us, believe people make a difference. She believed that if downtown was going to develop, someone has to be the first pioneer to move to the new beginning of the rebuilding of downtown. She was profiled in Downtown publications on the front page as a pioneer resident of downtown. She was active and involved in civic, community and non profits.

She also was active in politics and supported a diverse cross section of the political spectrum. From Governor Pete Wilson, to Majority Leader Christine Kehoe to Supervisor Ron Roberts to Senator Diane Feinstein, to name a few.

She was struck with Stage II Ovarian Cancer in 2006 and fought through surgeries, chemo, radiation and Cyber Knife Radiation as she had a strong will to live. She passed away suddenly on January 20, 2009.

We really appreciate your support and assistance.

Sincerely,

Joyce & Richard Flannery
(niece and nephew of Faye)
