Save a US Marine's Life

Donation protected
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering donating to my campaign.

My name is Keith Williams and I am a Retired United States Marine Sergeant Major. I spent over 24 years serving our great country and I am a very proud American. However, this story is not about me. This story is about one of my best friends, whom I met and served with in the Marines. My friend was also a Sergeant Major and served for over 27 years. He was recently forced to retire from the Marine Corps due to his declining health.  His name is Sergeant Major William "Bill" Hines.

As Marines we live by Core Values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Honor to us means integrity, responsibility and accountability. Courage defines doing the right thing, in the right way and for the right reasons. Commitment is devotion to our Nation, the Marine Corps and our fellow Marines.

Bill is a very proud Marine and would never ask anyone for assistance. This is why I am asking for him.  He has no idea I am trying to raise donations for him.Bill served in the Marine Corps for over 27 years. Throughout his career he upheld the highest professionalism and dedication as a Marine. He worked very hard to achieve the rank of Sergeant Major which is the highest enlisted rank you can obtain. He served all over the United States and he served in combat in Iraq.

Bill is what we would call in the Marine Corps, "A Marines, Marine". He took care of his Marines like they were his own children. He would do anything he could to ensure they were trained properly and had everything they needed to be successful. He sacrificed daily. He would be the first Marine to arrive in the morning and the last to leave at the end of the day. Bill set the example for others daily. He was a physical fitness beast. He could run three miles in under 18 minutes. He maxed our physical fitness test, worked out daily, coached his children in sports and was a sponsored semi-professional raquetball player. I was often jealous of his physical abilities and when I needed a partner to push me to run or to work out with he was always there.

Bill sacrificed time with his wife and 2 children to take care of his Marines, to set the example and to serve our nation in combat. Please help me take care of him so that he and his family can find peace.  As I mentioned earlier, Bill has declining health. The Doctors are struggling to diagnose his symptoms and to find a cure. He has been hospitalized numerous times with difficulty breathing and extreme fatigue. They have been able to diagnose him with chronic fatigue syndrome and Lupus. They also suspect he may have ALS or "Lou Gehrig's Disease."

Bill is in his mid 40’s and has difficulty walking up the stairs in his home, struggles with catching his breath when walking, and wears a oxygen mask. His family life has been virtually destroyed, as he can’t leave his home to do activities with his wife and children. He was able to obtain a job after retiring from the Marine Corps, however his health is increasingly causing him to miss work and he is unsure how much longer he will be able keep employment.

Please read this recent article about Bill. Tampa Bay News Article

Even though SgtMaj was forced to retire because of his declining health, he WAS NOT rated as 100% disabled by the Veterans Administration. The appeal process could take 3-5 years with the VA. His inability to work consistently and his numerous health issues have strained his finances. He is at risk to lose his home, cars, his family and most importantly his life.

He desperately needs financial and medical assistance. I would like to raise $30,000.00 to help him avoid financial ruin, to save his home, and to allow him to seek medical care at the best facility the United States can offer.

We owe this to an American Hero, a United States Marine, a proud husband and father and to a man that has sacrificed his time and energy to protect our nation and our way of life.  Please help me show him that as Americans, the Honor, Courage, and Committment  he lives by is worthy of our Honor, Courage, and Committment.

Anything you can provide will show this Sergeant Major that we will never forget, and that his sacrifice to our nation is worthy of our deepest admiration and support.  Please donate today. His situation cannot wait months for assistance. He needs us now. Thank you, God bless you and please pray for SgtMaj William Hines and his family.
