In 2012 Mike spent almost 8 months in Afghanistan. While serving he met and worked with "Dave." They went to meetings together, patrolled the local area and shared many meals. Dave was Mike's Afghan interpreter. In addition to interpretting, Dave also taught Mike about local dynamics that enabled Mike and his unit to be successful in this war torn region. Near the end of their time together Mike sponsored Dave on his application for a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV). Dave has a wife, daughter and son that have also been living in a war zone for more than a decade.
For almost 4 years Dave and his family have been waiting for their Visas and they FINALLY have them. They are arrving with 2 suitcases each, eager to create a better life for their family.
With no savings, no family support and having to start over professionally they need our help! Whether you have the ability to donate just a few dollars or more, every dollar helps to allow this family to thrive in their new home.
We are so very thankful for your support. It means the world to our family to have a community of friends and family willing to give and help create a better life for their family.
