Recently the organization that I intern for, Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE), rescued over 100 dogs from one house that is approximately 66 m²...that's really small even for two dogs. The man who hoarded these dogs made a living by selling these dogs to the meat market, often ten at a time to be slaughtered and eaten (this is in Korea). Once our organization heard of this atrocious and indecent practice, we set out to rescue the dogs and provide them with a temporary shelter. Most of these dogs have never seen sunlight, felt the wind, rain or the earth under their paws. These dogs have never seen a human being apart from the animal hoarder who kept them. They are very nervous around people and you can see their obvious fear whenever someone approaches them.
Most were raised in that small and dingy house which was never cleaned... you can imagine the filth that accumulated over the years. When we went to rescue these dogs, most of them were wet because urine and feces covered the floor and even the walls of the house.
Now they are at a temporary shelter right outside of Seoul and are undergoing rigourous cleaning and grooming. We hope to find families for each and every one of these dogs.
As you can imagine, taking care of 100 dogs is a heraculean task and we need every bit of help that we can get! Your help will be much appreciated!
The following video is of the 100 dogs before their rescue!
