Life for Vinnie after brain damage

Donation protected

Unfortunately on Saturday 14th may at 1.35pm vinnie suffered a cardiac arrest. This came about after the care he received was not what it was supposed to be and completely negligent behaviour.
Vinnie was without oxygen for 15 minutes or more causing his brain to be starved of oxygen. He is currently in intensive care on life support fighting hard!
He has brain damage which going forward will affect his sight, movement and cognitive behaviour. He is having seizures which is caused by the brain injury.

He is literally the strongest little boy we know who has overcome everything in his life . I’ve  always said as long as he is fighting , we will fight beside him, so here we are fighting.

We are fundraised to help us get through this horrific time as both self employed and the cost of being away from home is immense.  We have to eat, pay bills as normal but also continually travel home to see our 12 year old daughter who is living with family. Without the kind donations we received we could not of got through 3 months in hospital with no work.

Recovery at home will be long and it insures we can get vinnie Physio’s more often to help get him strong again. He will need lots of intensive treatment to reach his full potential.

We have also just had our new house adapted and are due to move in in October. We are literally starting again so money will be used to ensure we as a family have everything we need.

*** Background on Vinnie ***’

Vinnie was born in 2015 and diagnosed with a life limiting condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1. This is a genetic condition that causes global muscle weakness, including his limbs, the ability to swallow and also the ability to breathe independently. SMA is the biggest genetic killer in children with over 90% dying before the age of 2.
When Vinnie was 7 months old he started a clinical trial at Great Ormond street and he has proven everyone wrong. He can breathe independently except for overnight, he is tube fed and needs regular airway clearance as he cannot swallow. He does move, sit up and drive a power chair. He is non verbal but extremely vocal! Although he has physically disabilities he is cognitively advanced, he has the cognitive age of a child much older than himself. He can read and even self taught himself Spanish!!
He truly is an inspiration to everyone. He lives at home with myself, his stepdad andrew whom he adores and his sister kaydee who winds him up!
Finally after years of fighting we have our new home being built to meet Vinnie's needs and to give him the independence within his own home that he deserves. He has everything to live for.

We miss our little boy so very much, even his shouting at us. Help us get vinnie back to where he was before this incident
