My name is Alfonso Fraire, and I am raising funds to save my late mother Veronica Ibarra’s property in Boulder, Colorado, and transform it into a supportive adult day program for people with developmental disabilities. Veronica grew up in Boulder, began her career at CU, and later worked for the Denver Broncos. In 2000, she purchased this property with the dream of creating a business that would serve her family and the community. Over the years, the property housed a small mechanic shop that supported transportation for a nearby adult day program, ensuring clients could get to and from activities safely. Veronica loved seeing how even small acts, like vehicle support, could make a big difference for families. Her vision was to go further and turn the property into a place where adults with developmental disabilities could build friendships, participate in fun activities, and feel truly supported every day.

After her passing on May 5, 2024, I have carried on her dream by working at a day program for the past eight years. Through this experience, I have seen firsthand how much these programs mean to families and clients, especially in Boulder where there are few services for adults with developmental disabilities. Our program will offer safe transportation, daily social activities, life-skills development, recreation, and community outings. We hope to add therapy partnerships, health and wellness programs, and creative workshops so clients always have opportunities to grow and enjoy themselves.

The most urgent need is preventing the sale of my mom’s property, which is currently in probate with five heirs. Without immediate support, her dream of turning it into a day program will be lost. Donations will go directly toward keeping the property secure and moving forward with creating the adult day program she always envisioned. Every contribution brings us closer to honoring Veronica’s legacy and giving adults with developmental disabilities in Boulder the space and support they deserve.
