<div>I have an emergency situation where a precious cat needs to have surgery in his ear and also have a growth removed from his neck ASAP!!! The owner of the cat fell on hard times and can’t afford the surgery. She had taken him to the emergency hospital thinking he had to be put down but the vet said he wasn’t ready yet. Since then he has gotten worse. I told Salem Saves Animals his story and without any hesitation they offered to help. They have so far paid for several vet visits and an echocardiogram to see if Valentino can go through the surgery since he does have a heart murmur. The test came back that he can have the surgery. Of course there are risks but this is his only chance to get better. There’s no other option.

<div>Here’s a little background on Valentino. He does have a sad story. This February will be 5 years that he has been rescued. I had a friend named Calvin that lived in New York. He was an animal rescuer and would save dogs that were on the euthanasia list. That was his thing that he loved to do.

<div>One day he calls me to let me know about a cat he had just saved. There was a snow storm going on that night and a cat managed to get into the building that my friend lived in. It was very cold and the poor thing just wanted to get warm. Calvin witnessed a man that also lived in the building try to throw the cat back out with a shovel. Calvin took the cat to his apartment but could not stay there due to his dog not liking cats. I agreed to take him. The next day I drove half way to New York and got him. I had him vetted through a cat rescue and adopted out to someone I know.

<div>It gets even sadder. 6 months later Calvin was involved in a car accident and did not survive. He was only 34. I was completely heartbroken. He had such a passion rescuing animals.

<div>He’ll never be forgotten. Every time I would visit Valentino I would think of him ❤️
