Due to Covid-19 Tristar Gymnastics is in some dire need of help.
Tristar is not just a regular gymnastics club, it has produced 6 Canadian National Champions, multiple Team Canada athletes, 4 Commonwealth Games athletes, 45 Provincial athletes have won Gold Medals, 5 have gone on to win Gold at the Eastern Canadian Championships and 2 have represented Ontario at the Canadian Winter Games.
Many of the Tristar gymnasts have earned scholarships at major universities in the United States.
Tristar has one of the most advanced competitive programs in the country led by Iuly Gershcovich who has over 46 years of coaching experience in the Ukraine, Russia, Israel, & Canada.
But more importantly, this is a place where young girls learn dedication, commitment and forge amazing friendships. The competitive girls train over 20 hours a week and have created lifelong bonds with both the coaches and other gymnasts.
Training 4-5 hours a day these girls have dedicated their young lives to the sport so that they may one day reach the ultimate goal of representing their country at the Olympics.
With the new COVID-19 restrictions the recreational program, which funds the demanding and expensive competitive program has dropped by 80%. Tristar is in desperate need of some community support to get through these tough times. The landlord is not providing any rent relief and is threatening to close the doors.
If that happens many girls will have no place to go and years of training will be lost. Due to the high skill level of Tristar’s competitive athletes, no other club is nearby.
Please consider donating $5 to help keep the club up and running and keep the dream alive for so many of our future stars!
