Save Tootsie's Hip!

Donation protected

This is Tootsie. She also goes by Tuts, Toots, Roll, Tootsie Roll and Tootsie Wootsie.

Daniel and I adopted her when she was about 6 months old from Austin Pets Alive. She is beauty, she is grace, she is a mess who loves to kiss your face. Tootsie is a jumping and crazy lady. She is VERY stubborn and demands a lot of lovin'. She is so sweet and loves to cuddle up next to you for some belly rubs and licks. She has just been such a light and joy to us. Her tail never stops wagging, she's just always so happy!

After a couple months of having her, we realized that she was having trouble walking without a limp so we took her to the vet. When they took X-Rays, they told us that she has Bilateral Hip Dysplasia. SAD. We were so sad and couldn't believe that such a little pup could already have hip dysplasia. They told us that she would eventually need to have surgery to help her have a full and happy life.

Fast forward 1 year later and we are now in a position where she NEEDS surgery. If she doesn't get in now, she will develop muscle atrophy and getting surgery would be pointless after that. So we scheduled her for a  cement-less hip replacement surgery for her right hip.

The surgeon has assured us that Tootsie can have a full quality of life with this surgery. Tootsie's right hip is far worse than her left, and so he feels very confident in that having just one surgery on her right hip will bring her to the best possible life she can have!

We have been taking her to the Central Texas Veterinary Hospital where she will have her surgery on Monday, November 30th, 2020. We did get pet insurance as soon as we got Tootsie, but unfortunately it doesn't cover hip dysplasia.

A full hip replacement surgery for Tootsie's right hip will cost $6,000. While this is a generous amount of money for this surgery, it's worth it. The surgeon explained that if Tootsie doesn't get surgery, her quality of life will significantly worsen when in about 2-3 years and it will be a bitter decline from there. But with surgery, Tootsie will have the same quality of life as any other dog living a long and happy life! We desperately don't want her to be in anymore pain. And we want to keep her for as long as we possibly can.

This little Tootsie Roll has changed our lives in an enormous way. She is such a bright, joyful, and bouncing light. Due to the pandemic, trying to come up with money for this surgery is impossible. We have just struggled so much with money this year that we literally don't have $6,000 for Tootsie. All we can do is really on our communities, friends, and loved ones to help take care of this beautiful fur baby.

We know it's a lot to ask. But we are trying to make sure that Tootsie can live a long and happy life. We need your help. We hope that you can find a small amount to spare to help us pay for Tootsie's surgery. And if you can't, please consider sharing with your friends and family! Help us find support! Share on Facebook! We need a world of support right now and hope that you can help us!

To recap: Tootsie is a gem. She has hip dysplasia that is really advanced in her right hip. She needs a full cement-less hip replacement surgery. It is scheduled for Monday, November 30th 2020. It costs $6,000. We need your help to get her this surgery. If you personally cannot donate, please consider sharing with your people so that we can raise enough money to get this surgery for her!

The full $6,000 amount will be due ON November 30th at the time we drop her off for the surgery. The surgery will take a few hours and she will need to stay at the hospital for 3 days. When we pick her up on the 4th day, we have to keep her totally unmoving and basically sedated for a full 2 weeks, only moving her to take her to the bathroom. For the following 4 weeks, she needs to be taken on 10 minute walks twice a day but be completely unmoving the rest of the time. At the end of 12 weeks, Tootsie should be completely pain free and ready to be back to her happy pup life!

We appreciate any and all help that y'all can provide to us! This is going to be a stressful time, but know that this is what needs to be done and we are ready to get Tootsie out of pain! Thank you so much for your consideration and support. WE LOVE Y'ALL SO MUCH!!!
