The Covid Pandemic has hit us all hard, families are struggling to make ends meet, individuals are doing their best to provide and survive these troubling times. Businesses too are deeply affected by the governments stay at home order and a combination of many factors have lead to the decline in business and the possibility of shutting down operations.  Belmont Snack Shop has been serving  Avondale/Logan Square and the surrounding areas for many decades now in one form or another. The current ownership of Belmont Snack Shop has been serving our customer base for about a decade now. Many of you reading this have stopped in on your way to work in the early AM for a cup of coffee and a Croissant Sandwich, to be greeted by Vickie and Paul as they feed you, converse with you and  send you on your way to take over the world. Others have come in late after an exciting night at the bar or club, sobering up and ready for something delicious and greasy, to be greeted by Stephanie and Oliver and stared in amazement as the packed restaurant full of hungry customers were served by the dynamic duo of those two with their witty banter and charm. Many have encountered Judy and Julio on their Monday and Tuesday morning shifts as they playfully bicker like an old married couple or sat down and talked for hours with our movie buff Todd... For years we here at Belmont Snack Shop have served the local community and we truly hope to continue to serve the community for years to come. However like most other businesses we to have fallen on hard times and are struggling to maintain and are fearful that we will not be able to weather the storm and survive this pandemic and essentially make it to Phase 4 where we can reopen and continue to be 24 hours and serve the community. Since the  state and city restricted dining in at all restaurants on March 17th we have seen a decline in business of about 80%. When first announced we were told until April 1st and then it was extended to April 7th and then April 29th and now we are at the mercy of a phase system that ultimately guarantees we at the end of each month we have to endure another month of struggling in the hopes that the numbers are met in order to resume business and pay bills. Many of our employees have taken this time off to assure they remain healthy and are able to return to work once we are 100% and others have remained working with little to no pay with hopes that we can survive this and open back up stronger then ever. Since mid March us here at Belmont Snack Shop in a combination of lost revenue and money spent have lost somewhere in the area of 50k in an attempt to maintain and weather this storm. Most utility companies are being very reasonable and the landlords of this property are being understanding to an extent. But request have been made by our landlords that have proven to be difficult to adhere to and the threat of losing our lease and having to vacate the property is very real at this point.  As the Owner of Belmont Snack Shop I have prided myself in building a business that many people love and cherish and it is extremely hard to admit defeat and ask for help but I do not start this fund raiser for myself I start this fund raiser because of the men and women who are my family here at the Snack Shop... The ones who stood by during this entire pandemic because in their hearts they know it would be a tragic lost to lose this Chicago Gem and a place that they have called a second home and lose contact with the customer base who they have grown fond of and become friends with. Friends and Family of Belmont Snack Shop... I implore you to help in anyway you can to help us fight this good fight and survive this pandemic and come out the other end strong. If you do not want to donate please come in and order food, we would be happy to serve you. If you find it in your heart to donate even a small amount we would be greatly appreciative of that. We set our goal at $3,000.00 cause that amount would help us buy ourselves a couple weeks and avoid losing our lease and hopefully by then things will pick up and we can make some more money here. Obviously if more was raised that would be perfect but anything at this point truly help. Thank you all very much for reading this and I assure you that we here at the Snack Shop are not going down without a fight! Stay Safe! Myself, Paul and the entire staff of Belmont Snack Shop truly appreciate your support.
