Save the PAINT Fluid Art Conference

Hello art lovers. My name is Kim McDonald and I am a fluid paint and resin artist from Washington State. I am here to raise money for the founder of Pouring Artists INTernational (PAINT) Fluid Art Conference, to recoup losses after COVID-19 cancellation of this year’s event, in Seattle, Washington.
A little history...
Over the past few years fluid art (especially pour painting) has become a huge phenomenon of interest for thousands of people all over the world. During that time it became evident that there was a need to be filled regarding fluid art conferences and other fluid art gatherings for the benefit of those who love and want to participate in this fun and therapeutic art form. Pam Schmidt, an artist and art lover, saw that there was a need and opportunity to put together a national conference for fluid arts. With her background in event coordination, she began to put together the first ever national fluid art conference in the United States. The first conference was held in Orlando, Florida in 2019. This year’s show was scheduled for the beginning of April in Seattle, with hundreds of reservations, a full lineup of award winning Instructors and over 50 classes in 4 days. And then came COVID-19.
What I really need for you to know is that Pam Schmidt is not a rich person, in fact she and her husband are just normal everyday people who put all of their personal money in to building this event. After the dust settled on the cancellation, and after several days of Pam dealing with refunding reservations, communicating with vendors, and trying desperately not to be on the hook to pay for an event that wasn’t going to happen, the hotel decided to hold her harmless for the breaking of the hotel contract. Which would have been financially devastating for her family. I can only tell you from personal experience in talking with Pam just how unsettling this has been for her and her family. She is still out thousands due to advertising and other pre conference contracts and purchasing, and because of this, the future of the conference is in jeopardy. I wholeheartedly believe in what Pam is trying to do in building a yearly event, not to get rich (because she pours any profits back into the next show), but to build a conference that is such a fun and great learning experience for so many people.
It is my goal and intention to help Pam recoup any losses for this year, and also raise enough money to include event insurance at the next conference.
