The House of Oddites and Curious Goods is a passion project located in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. It's part museum with a small gift shop. The admission is free and donations help to meet the monthly costs. Many notable items are on display such as Edgar the Alligator Man, Jo Jo the Dog Faced Boy, Unzie the Albino, folkart from Johnny Eck and Homer Tate and more two-headed creatures than you can shake a stick at.
The goal of the museum is to display to the public. Everybody is welcome to walk through the doors, and see curious goods that were once shown at the Baltimore Dime Museum and the Gettysburg Dime Museum.
This is not a profit driven business. Breaking even is what keeps the lights on and like many small businesses, the rising costs of rent and utilities is making it harder to stay open. Plus, this year is terrible. The museum gets foot traffic, but very little in sales and donations. This is a one man show and I absorb all the financial loss just to keep this weird little place open to the public. It's appreciated by the locals, and many have visited from out of state.
The amount that I am asking for will help the museum continue and any extra will right back into the business. I would like to see the oddites prevail for many years to come!
