Save the New York Free Store

Donation protected

My name is Vicki Rovere, resident of  New York's Lower East Side for 45 years.
For the last 12 years I have been rescuing unwanted items, sorting and cleaning them, then putting them out for people who need them in what  has become famous locally as "The Ludlow Street Free Store".
From cooking utensils to coats, books to boots, I have saved thousands of items, helping both the environment and people's lives by saving things from being taken to landfill.
I help the poor, the needy and those who share a desire to reduce the amount of waste in society.
My reward has  been to receive so much love and gratitude from people who feel part of a giving community.
I have never taken a penny to cover the cost of collecting, storing or putting out the free store every single night it hasn't rained or snowed in the last 12 years.

Unfortunately all the time I've devoted to the Free Store (which I call Reclamation and Redistribution) has prevented me from spending enough time making money to support myself.

The largest expense I have is storage unit costs and your donation will cover this expense for 4 months, in which time I can reduce the amount in storage and focus more energy on generating alternative sources of income to support my work with the store.
This is not a long term funding request; it is an inventory clearing and alternative funding short term measure.
Most importantly, it is keeping the Free Store free!
