We are members of the Lotus community asking you to help us Save Our Sanctuary!
For twelve years, Laughing Lotus Yoga Center has served the Mission neighborhood in San Francisco. The Lotus is a place that welcomes everyone. It is a gathering place for devotion, community, and activism. It provides low- and no-cost yoga to the community and monthly donations to local nonprofits through the Love Saves the Day program. Within its walls, through breath, movement and laughter, it allows many of us to explore the aliveness that is within all of us.
Two weeks ago, along with small businesses all over the world, it closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. A full schedule of upcoming classes and training was cancelled. It is now deeply in need of financial support to survive.
Jasmine and her managers are doing everything they can to seek small business aid from the city and state governments. That process will likely take weeks, if not months! Meanwhile, they are facing a severe shortage of funds to pay dedicated staff and continue operations.
These are challenging times, and the fear of an uncertain future is very much alive for all of us. But alongside that fear is courage to protect what we care about. The loss of the Lotus would mean that many non-profits, community leaders, and dedicated teachers will lose a source of income and support.
We are reaching out to the community for emergency relief. Laughing Lotus teaches us daily that it's love that saves the day, and now it is all of our Love that Saves the Lotus!
