Save The Larne Draught Horses

Stephen and Jan Johnson of Larne Draught Horse and Clydesdale Stud are currently in the grip of drought located at Lake Cargelligo, NSW where they have bred Australian Draught Horses and Clydesdales for over 40 years. Not only are they suffering from the drought that has hit the area hard, but day after day of scorching heat in the high 40's. Plus dust storms that remove any top soil still left meaning it will take a long time when/if the rains finally  come before any feed will appear.

Photo - 3 Generations of Johnsons - Grandfather, Father and Grandson. It is a family tradition that is being passed down so the skills and knowledge can continue.

They are currently hand feeding a few horses on hay and lawn and walking the rest to find almost non-existent grass. They have been selling part of their stud stock to ensure some remaining horses survive. They are a retired couple taking the team of horses they have built up over the years to perform at shows and festivals around the country including Barellan Good Old Days Festival where they were involved with a team of 26 horses pulling a wool wagon.

To receive some financial support to keep the stud going and the horses alive would be a blessing for what is currently a terrible situation. Your support would give Stephen and Jan much needed financial help to ensure the Larne Draught Horse team continues.

View the following video of how Stephen and Jan share their love for their horses from an ABC documentary filmed in 2012.
