Help Sustain the Fenway News!

At a time when most community newspapers have disappeared, The Fenway News continues to provide hyperlocal coverage of four rapidly changing Boston neighborhoods, as well as a platform for residents to express opinions about a range of issues. Run by dedicated volunteers, the paper remains committed to providing a fine-grained record of the Fenway, Mission Hill, Audubon Circle, and Kenmore—created by people who know these places best.
We're Boston’s oldest nonprofit community paper, but we find ourselves in the same boat as newspapers everywhere. Ad revenue alone no longer pays the bills. As the public health emergency took hold in March, our situation worsened: Advertising dried up and some advertisers may close their doors altogether. We are actively exploring new sources of revenue to help fill this need. Meanwhile, without additional help from supporters, The Fenway News will likely fold.
Which brings us to this campaign helping us meet three immediate goals:
1. Paying off a significant debt to our very patient printer, aiding our return to a print edition after the pandemic.
2. Underwriting development of a new website that will be more functional and user-friendly.
3. Increasing the pay for our hard-working editor.
Independent community journalism takes time, money, and hard work, but we believe meeting these goals will make The Fenway News sustainable over the long haul.
If you love the neighborhoods we cover; if you value independent, free community journalism; if you’ve ever read (or written for!) The Fenway News, won’t you join this campaign to secure the paper’s future? We’ve made it through 46 years. With your help, we can make it through many more.
Even a small donation will get us closer to our goals. Can we count on you?
