Just FYI that we vaccinated all the bunnies at Floyd Lamb Park last Saturday and this Saturday (8/15) we will be doing over 30 more at our remote location (plus some fosters are coming). THANK YOU for your AMAZING support!!!!
7/23/2020 UPDATE: PLEASE HELP BY SHARING! The RHDV2 vaccine is FINALLY in and we are scheduled to begin vaccinations for over 70 bunnies on Saturday, August 1 (30+ being done the first day). Just these 3 baby bunnies will cost our group over $200 each with meds, vaccination, chipping & spay or neuter and an adoption starter kit. We are mostly saving babies with respiratory issues (Currently 34 but 5 are in "foster to adopt" after treatment) but also a few adults. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! You are helping us save so many! #bunniesmatter
6/27/2020 Update: Well the disasterist year of 2020 continues. We got devastating news yesterday as the RHDV2 rabbit vaccines that finally came in were temperature compromised somewhere between the plane landing and the refrigerated delivery truck. Probably security checking it at the airport and keeping it exposed to hot air too long, looking for illegal drugs if I had to guess. We also got other horrible news yesterday that the RHDV2 rabbit disease has made its way into the wild population in Nevada (I heard Boulder City area but trying to confirm, no call back of course). Everyone's bunnies are now at high risk and the dumpsite bunnies are at super high risk. There is no vaccine available for at least a month again and there is no guarantee it won't happen again because we did everything we could to avoid this. Now this puts adoptions on further hold and a bunch of other things on hold to try to save as many of these poor buns as we can. It's just heartbreaking that this many obstacles are thrown at these bunnies. We truly need a miracle to save them now.
6/11/2020 Update: We've raised the goal to $6000 to save 50 more dumpsite bunnies located in NW Las Vegas. There are a lot more than 50 out there but we are doing what we can, we are pretty stretched and this has been a very stressful time. The new $3000 only covers for the vaccine, chips, paperwork & exam, it doesn't include for the spay or neuter but we have to start somewhere. Thank you to everyone who shares our posts and fundraisers, who volunteers and who donates to help us save them. We have a lot of eye and respiratory issues and those types of issues are expensive. We are praying for help and a miracle. #bunniesmatter
5/19/2020 UPDATE: We raised our goal to $3000 so we can order 50 vaccines, about 30 for the ones in our care plus 20 more we hope to rescue. 50 vaccines X $60 (estimated) = $3000. This is only for the vaccine, we will still have to spay and neuter and treat but we can't spay or neuter them if they are dead so the vaccine has to come first. This is crazy, it can't be done, but we have to at least try and save as many as we can.

I've been helping to rescue Vegas Dumpsite Bunnies since 2015. With the help of many bunny lovers & friends around the country and world, we have been able to help rescue and rehome 100s and 100s of Vegas dumpsite bunnies. Tragically today (May 4, 2020) it has been announced that Vegas has had its first confirmed cases of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 (RHDV2) in domestic rabbits. This is an EXTREMELY contagious disease that kills all bunnies in contact with it in a couple of days. There is a vaccine that's made out of the country and initially it looks like the cost will be about $60 per bunny.
This is where we are at. In our current rescue at Floyd Lamb Park, we have adopted out a total of 55 of 65 dumpsite bunnies that were rescued on property. Our rescue currently has 10 FLP rescued bunnies (5 bonded pairs) & 24 miscellaneous rescued bunnies left. The total cost of the vaccine for the virus for just these 34 will be approximately $2040.
But there are 100s of other Vegas dumped domestic bunnies that are going to die cruel deaths. In the last 2 months, I've been trying to figure out a way to save a bunch of bunnies around my neighborhood that some neighbors & I feed daily. With this announcement, there won't be a way to save them all but we will save as many as we can.
