Save the Detroit Saxophone Center

UPDATE 3: Wednesday, July 22, 2020, 3:20 PM EDT:

Thank you again to everyone who has contributed to and shared this campaign. As the Detroit Saxophone Center slowly starts to re-open, Rick was able to pay his rent for the month of July. The need for support and contributions still exists, so please consider re-sharing this campaign to help us to get to the goal of raising $20,000. #SmallBusinessRelief

UPDATE 2: Wednesday, July 1, 2020, 4:54 PM EDT:

Thank you again everyone for sharing and donating to the campaign to save the Detroit Saxophone Center! We are so grateful that, because of your support, the initial goal of $6,000 was met on time to pay the rent for the Detroit Saxophone Center. We are not out of the woods yet. Please continue to support this campaign so that we can reach the final goal of raising $20,000.

UPDATE 1: Monday, June 29, 2020, 3:22 PM EDT:

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for the support so far.
I spoke with Richard today, and he asked me to express his sincere gratitude to everyone that has shared or donated. We are approaching the initial goal of $6,000 that funds the rent owed by the Detroit Saxophone Center.  Together, we can reach the final goal of $20,000. Please continue to share this campaign with all of your friends and family on social media. Again, Richard is appreciative and overwhelmed by the outpouring of generous support from his friends, customers, and colleagues.

The sole recipient of this GoFundMe campaign will be Mr. Richard Pioch, the owner and operator of the Detroit Wayne Music Studio, LLC; DBA: Detroit Saxophone Center.

The Detroit Saxophone Center, the premier saxophone repair shop in the Detroit area, has been hard hit by the Covid-19 crisis, and is in danger of going out of business forever. The Detroit Saxophone Center has been fundamental to the Detroit  music scene for decades.  Please help to keep it afloat!

Richard has applied for a Covid-19 small business loan, and his application was withdrawn by the SBA.

I met Rick years ago when he started doing repair work for my saxophone. He is old school: he treats his customers with respect, he is extremely humble, and he takes extreme pride in his work.

He did not ask me to start this campaign on his behalf: he didn't have to.  As soon as I learned about his situation, I knew that I had to act...immediately.  He owes over $6,000 in  rent for the shop due to the three months closure caused by the  Covid-19 pandemic, and he must come up with this amount by July 1st, 2020, or face eviction.  I set the campaign amount at $20,000 so that he can pay his rent, and have a few months of operating revenue until the Detroit music scene financially recovers.  Anything that you can donate would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!
