SAVE THE CAT RESCUE HOUSE

Tax deductible
As the founder and president of Love 4 Cats & Trapping Rescue, Inc., I’m asking for help as our remarkable 501(c)(3) is facing a devastating crisis. We ask you to help us save the house for the rescue.  https://loveforcats.org/

Peter Potorski, the property owner and my beloved partner in love and in rescue work, died unexpectedly in his sleep of a pre-existing heart condition nearly two months ago on October 22nd. He was only 63 years old. We are now in jeopardy of losing the Love 4 Cats Rescue House, the home base for the much-needed work we do for cats and the community.

I suffered a near-death experience due to a brain aneurysm in 2012. My recovery gave me a valuable second chance at life. It also clarified my life’s mission: the care, rescue and humane treatment of homeless cats in South Florida. Love 4 Cats & Trapping, Inc. was established.

Peter helped spearhead this nonprofit, creating a sanctuary for rescued cats and a special place to get them ready for adoption. At any given time, the home continues to be a refuge for up to 40 cats, and with Peter’s help, we were able to provide the care needed.

Since 2014, over 6,000 homeless cats have been saved, vetted and received medical attention through Love 4 Cat’s trap-neuter-return (TNR) and foster programs. Our current Oakland Park location is where rescued cats and kittens begin their path to a better life, whether that be returning to an existing colony after medical attention and spay/neuter or through adoption into a forever home. Community cats multiply year-round in South Florida: Just one unspayed cat and its offspring can produce 11 million cats in 9 years.

The house is divided to include a separate area for our trap-neuter-return feral cats to reside until they are released. It also contains a designated infirmary space that provides our injured, feral and abandoned cats a safe space to recover from surgery. Some are too sick to eat and require round-the-clock attention and hand-feeding to aid the healing process. Every cat requiring medical care receives daily monitoring until they make a complete recovery.

In addition to the TNR space and infirmary, Peter customized the rescue’s interior and property to provide a home-like setting that provides the cats both freedom and enrichment while awaiting their forever homes. This customized space is the perfect environment for the rehabilitation and safe adoption of homeless cats. No other place exists like it in the area.

The rescue house property is in a legal Trust. We need to buy it from the Trust, or it will be sold, and Love 4 Cats will need to vacate. Peter’s death was unexpected; he would never have wanted to put the rescue in jeopardy. WE NEED YOUR HELP to purchase this property to continue to save the lives of abandoned, sick and homeless cats. Peter’s passing has devastated me both emotionally and professionally. Now my lifelong dream is at risk of being destroyed.

Since my brain aneurysm, I am on disability, which provides only a minimum income. I am trying to qualify for a FHA loan but I need a large down payment for the house. This is where you can help!!!  Money needs to be raised for Love 4 Cats Rescue House to continue to save the lives of abandoned, sick and homeless cats and provide TNR services.

THIS IS AN URGENT SITUATION!  WE NEED YOUR HELP AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT. WE ONLY HAVE UNTIL FEBRUARY 2021 TO RAISE THESE FUNDS!  PLEASE, PLEASE, help our rescue survive!!

If anyone is interested in purchasing the property as a rent-to-own for the rescue, we are open to options. Please contact me.  Right now, we need your help; we hope you can find it in your heart to donate.

Your support is GREATLY APPRECIATED.
