Save Sveta

My sis is 19 y.o.

She was studying, making plans for life, dreaming…

But unfortunately, for more than 18 months my sweet and very strong girl has been fighting a serious disease. Our family was attacked by the enemy called "CANCER". In January 2017 after several exhausting months of setting diagnosis, Sveta was diagnosed with a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Since then, she has gone through a lot of terrible things: side effects of medications, complications, a lot of procedures, injections, anesthesia, droppers, biopsies, punctures without anesthesia, 5 chemotherapies in our home country, which is Ukraine. All of them did not give the desired result. Then we headed for Turkey and there the diagnosis was revised and clarified. All further treatment was performed in Turkey. Sveta underwent 15 chemotherapies of 3 different protocols, until they found the right treatment, which gave a good result and at last we heard the magic word “remission”, which made it possible to carry out auto stem cell transplantation to fix the result. We were so happy and started going back to our usual everyday life, we thought that it was all over now…

But 3 months after auto stem cell transplantation the disease returned… Relapse! Our hearts were broken, once again, it is impossible to describe that horror and pain we experienced hearing that terrible news. I wanted to believe that this was all a nightmare, and now we gonna wake up and everything will be fine.

After the next round of medical examination and consultations we’ve been informed that there is a chance to fight, but it is necessary to undergo radiotherapy with further haplo transplantation (transplantation of the mother's haploidentical stem cells). Transplantation from our Mom, as there is no a non-relative 100% compatible donor for Sveta in either Turkish or the World Bank of bone marrow donors. Our lil girl is unique, you see.

I am absolutely sure that after experiencing all this things, everything changes in life. One change priorities, views, values. When I am looking at my sis and into her eyes, I see so much depth in them. I am confident that she has a great future and she’ll do a great deal of important and truly valuable things in her life. No need to move heaven and earth to become a hero. Sveta is my hero. She is a fighter, she’s so steady-going, wise, enduring and humorous at her 19, even in such difficult circumstances.

Due to the fact that the struggle for Sveta's health keeps on going for a long time, my family is exhausted financially, and we cannot cope with it anymore. At various stages of treatment, we applied to funds, friends, acquaintances and strangers, posted information in the media, held auctions, sold charity T-shirts and it gave us a chance to continue treatment and save our Sveta. We are all cordially grateful to everyone for such support and help.

Now we once again appeal to everyone for help, but this time we have very little time, the sister is in a high risk group and transplantation has to be performed in a few weeks. She had already undergone radiotherapy and it gave a good result. And we cannot wait that long.
