Help Save Squiggle ❤️

Most of you will remember when Squiggle was hit by a truck last year. It was one of the worst days we’ve ever had, we honestly thought we were going to lose her. But Squiggle being Squiggle, she fought her way back, and with the amazing vets and all of you rooting for her, she somehow pulled through. We’ll never forget the messages and love she got at that time, it felt like she had an army behind her.

Since then, life carried on and Squiggle went back to being her happy, cheeky self and has always been at Beth’s side again since, whether working or just tagging along.

She’s not “just a dog” to us. She was born here, she’s grown up here, and she’s been Beth’s best friend and partner every single day of her life. She’s Elsa and Wynns daughter, and she’s the last of their bloodline on our farm. We can’t imagine the farm, or life, without her.

But heartbreakingly, that accident left a hidden problem we didn’t know about. Over the last few weeks Squiggle’s been blowing a bit when breathing. She still seemed bright and full of energy, but deep down we all had a gut feeling we know darn well in our job you shouldn’t ever ignore, so we sent her in for a check up.

After X-rays, we got the news we never wanted to hear, the old injury had left a tear in her diaphragm, and it’s now become a hernia. Her organs, some of her liver, intestines, have slipped through the hole into her chest cavity. They’re crushing her lungs, causing fluid to build up, and leaving her with only a fraction of her normal breathing capacity.

The only option is URGENT specialist surgery to repair the hole and move her organs back. Without it, she doesn’t stand a chance and she will not make it, there is no question that time will only make this worse. With it, she has a real fighting shot at a future. It’s risky, but if there’s one dog who deserves that chance, it’s Squiggle.

Because the problem traces back to her original accident, insurance have said they won’t cover the surgery. The cost runs well into the thousands. We’ll do everything we can ourselves to help beth fund this, but with Elsa’s vet bills on top, we’ve reached the point where we can’t do this alone.

We’ve never asked for help like this before, but we are trying everything we can. If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it will go straight towards Squiggle’s surgery and recovery. If you can’t, just sharing her story will mean the world.
