Save Silmaril Sailing

On the 6th of September 2017 Hurricane Irma passed through the Virgin Islands. According to official sources Irma was the strongest hurricane to form in the Atlantic in history. She destroyed over 90% of the beautiful British Virgin Islands and left a path of destruction in it's wake.
Unfortunately Silmaril, arguably one of the oldest and well liked Charter yachts in the territory, has taken a big hit. There has been extensive damage done to the hull, mast, rigging, sails and woodwork.  For those of you that have sailed with us, and had the oportunity to charter such a classic and elegant yacht, you would understand the attention to detail she will require during her restoration process.
Silmaril is unfortunately our family's only source of income and  we would appreciate any help to restore this beautiful classic yacht back to her former glory.  We look forward to the day we can invite you back on board for a beautiful sailing excursion!

A few details about her if you have not yet sailed on her, Silmaril is a 51' length overall Hans Christian Sloop. She is a 28 year old Norwegian designed sailing yacht that was constructed in Taiwan, where the carpentry and craftsmanship is of select Burmese teak and brass. She is a graceful and sophisticated lady with nostalgic lines, and beautiful teak cockpit and accents. We intend to restore her with original materials.
On behalf of Lindsay, our three sons and myself, Captain Jason Geyser....thank you for any assistance.
Moving forward with our campaign, if you are not familiar with this process, we have been required to set up a beneficiary that complies with the 'Go Fund Me' withdrawal and fund transfer process. Our dear friend and neighbour in the BVI, Sheila Whiting has volunteered to be our U.S. citizen intermediary.  As an American citizen, Sheila is able to transfer the funds from our Save Silmaril Sailing campaign to our First Bank, VI account.

We thank you for your compassionate thoughts, encouragement, and generous support. At a time such as this, it is comforting to have such caring friends.
