About 3 weeks ago while both dogs were on a leader (one muzzled) they were approached by a police officer who said they were going to seize both dogs as they looked like a banned breed.
After being assessed they were deemed 'pit bull types'. As they're not being held under the dangerous dog act and only being held under the illegal dog breed act we have a chance to get them back. But surprise surprise they want a s***t ton of money off us first.
The kennel costs for both dogs is already up to £1,200.00 and we are still waiting to be given a date for the civil court so we can fight to get them back.
On top of that we have to pay for third party insurance and have them both neutered before they can be released to us.
They told us the quickest route would be through civil court as the other route could take up to 6 months, but with civil court we could have them back within a month. However, with civil court we have to fund our own legal aid.
We really want them home for Christmas. Sargent (the puppy) has never been away from us or Sativa (his mother) since he was born a year ago and they're not being kept together in the kennels so we're hoping for as speedy a resolution as we can get.
Anything at all you can donate, even £1, would be a blessing as I don't know how we're going to get the money together in such a short space of time without help.
Please help us help them. The alternative is the police will have them 'destroyed' which is something I can't even think about.
