Our Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life of children and adults through the delivery of high quality healthcare services, surpassing the care available within the public health system. Ruth Paz, our founder, started her medical charity work in 1969, bringing in medical teams and taking Honduran children to the U.S. for much needed medical care. In 1992, the Foundation was registered as a legal entity by Honduran law through resolution No. 190-92. In 1999, The United States Treasury Department granted the Ruth Paz Foundation 501(c) 3 status for non-governmental organization. The Ruth Paz Foundation has helped over 400,000 Honduran children receive life-saving medical attention in both our clinic and hospital. 9 years ago, the Ruth Paz Children's Hospital opened its doors, and thanks to donors like you, we have been able to stay open despite a significant decrease in private and government funding during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospital has been taking an influx of patients from local public hospitals that are now serving as COVID-19 treatment centers. As if 2020 hasn't been hard enough, on November 5, 2020, Honduras was hit by Hurricane Eta and the effects were catastrophic. Over 400,000 people have been displaced from their homes, many losing everything they own.  On November 17th, 2020 Honduras was hit by Hurricane Iota. 1.8 million people have been affected by these horrific events, and the numbers are still climbing.  We need your help now more than ever.  We rely SOLEY on your donations, as we have not and will not receive any funding from the government.  _____________________________________________________________________ A Little Bit More About Us The Ruth Paz Pediatric Hospital” in San Pedro Sula provides general and specialized surgeries. Daily surgeries include: hernias, plastic/burn reconstructive, orthopedic, cleft lip and palate and specialized surgeries such as: cardiac, anorectal, maxillofacial, and scoliosis.  Children needing surgeries and medical consults are being referred to our hospital from public hospitals throughout the north part of Honduras because they have cancelled all their surgeries and consults to be able to tend to  COVID-19 patients. Normally the Ruth Paz Hospital provides approximately 3000 medical visits and 75 surgeries a month, but with this crisis the demand is much higher and we have had to purchase PPE to protect our personnel therefore creating a tremendous financial burden on the Foundation. We are doing everything possible to provide medical help for the poor communities in the Northern region of Honduras.  The Foundation relays solely on private monetary, equipment and medicine donations from the U.S and monetary donations and local fundraisers throughout the year in Honduras (which now are all cancelled), companies who have pledged to make donations this year have had retract because of the uncertainty is everyone is facing.  What We Need We are asking your help to raise $250,000. This will help us: - Pay salaries for our doctors, nurses, administrative staff, security &amp; cleaning crew : Approx $76,551.17 / month - 100 salaries - Pay our electric bill : Approx $8,058.02 /month - Pay public services : (Internet, phone lines, etc) : $1,208.70/month
